The Rukungiri District Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) conference is set to take place on Friday, 31st January 2025, with a critical agenda focusing on the welfare of Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, discussions about transitioning to the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), and resolutions to strengthen the party.
The conference is scheduled to be held at Heritage Hotel in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality. It is expected to attract Members of Parliament elected on the FDC ticket within the district, Constituency Executive Committees, District Executive Committees, Sub-County Executive Committees, and all FDC flag bearers from the 2021 general elections for LC3 Chairpersons and above.
Caleb Musimenta, the Rukungiri District Office Administrator, affirmed that the District Conference aligns with the FDC Party Constitution. He reiterated the party’s readiness to address the welfare of Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and Abeid Lutale Kamuregyesa, facilitate the transition to the People’s Front for Freedom, and deliberate on future plans.
Gadson Mutabazi, the FDC Chairperson for Southern Division, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the District Conference. He emphasized that the meeting provides a conducive environment to resolve internal party matters, prepare for the upcoming general elections, and focus on rescuing the country from poor governance.
Innocent Rubarondesa, the Secretary for Mobilization, Information, and Publicity for FDC, highlighted the significance of the conference in endorsing the transition from FDC to PFF for improved leadership. He urged party members to actively participate in ensuring a successful meeting.
