Rukungiri District Local government has today 31st October held its budget Conference.
This is an event that ensures effective participation of all stakeholders in the planning and budgeting process, dissemination of policy framework that will guide the budget /work plan preparation for FY 2023/24 , providing development partners operating in the district a chance to share with stakeholders their objectives and activities in the district together with identifying district program priorities 2023/24 in line with 20 government program areas.
The Chief Administrative Officer Hajji Wasswa Masokoyi thanked those who attended the budget Conference and informed them audience that the function is being held amidst the challenges of an Ebola outbreak which requires members of the public to take caution and reduce direct interactions .
The CAO mentioned that Rukungiri District for the Financial year 2023/24 will focus on implementation of the Parish Development Model and urged political leaders to supervise SACCO performance .
Other strategies are Climate change and management of food Security, Human capital development, safe water and sanitation, consolidating infrastructure development then governance and security.
The District Chairman Mr. Kyomukama Geoffrey in his remarks urged the planning unit to always allocate funds for communication through media houses about important events like the budget conference indicating that most people were not aware about the event.
The Chairman also called for facilitation of parish chiefs and extension workers noting that they are doing excellent work in the communities.
He requested for an increase in welfare funds for both the councillors and the Chairperson stressing that they spend a lot of money in Public Relations activities such as fundraising.
