The outgoing Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rukungiri, Steven Bewayo Nsubuga, has officially bid farewell after serving the district for an unprecedented four years, making him the longest-serving RDC in the area.

During a colorful farewell ceremony held on Thursday, 31st July 2025 at Riverside Hotel in Rukungiri Municipality’s Eastern Division, Bewayo attributed his successful tenure to a strong commitment to integrity, respect for all, and honoring sound advice. He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve diligently, emphasizing the value of being corruption-free, upholding public respect, and allowing space for multiparty governance.

Several district leaders commended his leadership style and contributions to Rukungiri. District Chairperson LC5 Geoffrey Kyomukama encouraged the public to embrace the transition, describing transfers as part of career growth and a chance for broader networking. He further applauded the achievements registered under Bewayo’s leadership.

Deputy RDC Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom hailed Bewayo’s mentorship, emphasizing the need to sustain the quality of public service delivery initiated during his time.

The Rukungiri Chief Administrative Officer, Hajj Masokoyi Swalikh Wasswa, lauded Bewayo for his commitment to fighting shoddy work in government projects and for maintaining professionalism by avoiding inter-office interference for personal interests.

Steven Bewayo Nsubuga has been transferred to serve as the RDC of Parkach District in the West Nile region, where he is expected to continue his service with the same level of dedication and integrity.
