The Territorial Police in Rukiga District are actively searching for a man accused of causing the death of his 11-month-old daughter, Ainomugisha Obvious, in a domestic violence incident that occurred on 13th November 2025 in Nyakasa Cell, Bucundura Parish, Kashambya Sub-county.
The suspect, identified as Boaz Tuhirirwe, a lumberer and biological father of the deceased, is reported to have returned home after spending three months away. According to preliminary police findings, he found his wife, Atuhire Allen, taking a cow for grazing at around 4:00 pm. Tuhirirwe allegedly followed her with a stick and began assaulting her despite the fact that she had their baby tied on her back.
During the assault, the infant was struck in the face with the stick and died instantly. The grief-stricken mother removed the child from her back as the suspect reportedly took the baby to a nearby clinic, where he was informed that the child had already died. He fled the scene shortly after.
Police officers visited and documented the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and are making arrangements for a postmortem examination on the child’s body.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that efforts to apprehend the suspect are underway and that investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the assault.
Authorities condemn the incident as a tragic act of domestic violence and urge the public to cooperate with law enforcement to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.
