Leaders in Rugarama North Sub-county continue to urge residents to spend responsibly and enjoy the festive season cautiously, reminding them that Christmas is just a few days away, and life with its many expenses and responsibilities will continue thereafter.

Francis Karita, the LC1 Chairperson of Kamahuri Cell, told our reporter that overspending during the festive season is unwise, as the new year brings financial obligations such as paying school fees and other household responsibilities. He emphasized that children should not miss school simply because of financial mismanagement during the holiday season.

Karita further advised residents to exercise caution during this time to avoid circumstances that may endanger their lives, such as accidents and excessive drinking, which could lead to fatalities.

He also urged residents to safeguard their property against the rise in theft during the festive season. Karita criticized the police for failing to fulfill their duties and called on responsible authorities to help ensure the safety of people and their belongings.

Simon Rubagumya, the speaker of Rugaraama North Sub-county, cautioned residents against becoming overexcited, noting that previous festive seasons have witnessed significant loss of life due to reckless behavior.

Rubagumya also advised residents to leave someone at home to protect their property while attending prayers or overnight events during Christmas. He warned that criminals often target such opportunities to carry out theft.

Amanya Ivan Rwanyakibare, the LC3 Chairperson of Rugaraama North Sub-county, urged residents to remain vigilant about the animals they consume during the festive season, as diseases like anthrax and foot-and-mouth disease pose serious health risks in the area and beyond.

Rwanyakibare also highlighted the increasing cases of theft in Rugaraama North Sub-county, including theft of animals, food, and other property, and urged residents to be proactive in protecting their belongings.
