Police in Rubanda district have arrested one Kabuyanda Tamugabomwe, a resident of Rwamahano village, Ikamiro Parish, Muko Sub County, for allegedly murdering his wife, Linna Mariserina, aged 30.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, July 2, 2025, at around 3:00am. It is alleged that Kabuyanda severely assaulted his wife on suspicion of infidelity, leaving her with serious head injuries.
Despite her critical condition, the suspect allegedly left Linna lying helplessly until around 8:00am when the area LC1 Chairperson, Turyahirwa Benard, discovered the injured woman. He reportedly advised Kabuyanda to rush her to hospital for treatment. Instead, the suspect is said to have moved her into a temporary tent where the couple had been residing while guarding domestic animals.
Unfortunately, Linna was later found dead at around 10:00am.
Following the incident, Kabuyanda handed himself over to the LC1 Defence Secretary, Kamene Denis, who escorted him to Muko Police Station where the matter was officially reported.
Police visited and documented the scene, conducted a postmortem on-site, and handed over the body to relatives for burial.
Authorities have strongly condemned the act, urging the public to resolve domestic disputes amicably or through community leaders and legal avenues rather than resorting to violence.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
