Mark Akampurira, a pupil at Future Generation Nursery and Primary School in Nyaruhanga Ward, Rubanda Town Council, Rubanda District, has achieved an outstanding performance by scoring aggregate 5 in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). The results were released yesterday by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
Akampurira’s inspiring journey began when he was picked up by Joseline Korugyendo, the school director, from Rubaare Town Council in Ntungamo District. His mother had been planning to poison him and his two siblings and then commit suicide because she was unable to care for them after losing her husband. Korugyendo brought Akampurira and his siblings to the school and took responsibility for their well-being, assigning Akampurira the additional task of grazing goats.
Akampurira credits his success to resilience and dedication to his studies. He expressed gratitude for the help he received and shared his dream of helping the helpless and needy in the future, inspired by his own experiences.
Joseline Korugyendo, the school director, said that Akampurira’s story inspires her to continue supporting needy children. She praised his humility and perseverance, which have been key to his success.
At Future Generation Nursery and Primary School, four pupils scored aggregate 5, with 15 pupils achieving first-grade results. Only three pupils scored in division two, with the lowest score being aggregate 14, making the school the top performer in Rubanda District.
