St. Paul Rwanyanja Church of Uganda Parish in Bugangari Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, ushered in a new chapter of leadership as Rev. Richard Kwehangaana was officially installed as parish priest in a vibrant ceremony held at the parish grounds.

The installation, presided over by Rev. Elasmus Barangirana, the Archdeacon of Bugangari Archdeaconry, was not only a spiritual milestone but also a call to transformation for the local Christian community. In his sermon, Rev. Barangirana urged Christians to commit genuinely to their faith beyond Sunday worship.

“Get saved for good, not just for attendance,” he emphasized, encouraging congregants to remain rooted in Christ and forsake worldly distractions. He reminded them that God’s blessings come to the faithful, and personal accountability must guide every Christian’s life.

The event also highlighted the intersection of spiritual leadership and socio-economic development. Mr. Kwesiiga Boaz Ruteera, Head of Laity for Bugangari Archdeaconry, praised Rev. Kwehangaana for his proactive leadership, citing completed church projects and promotion of coffee farming as key achievements since his appointment.

“We thank Bishop Onesmus Asiimwe for trusting Rev. Kwehangaana. His leadership has already brought visible development. Let’s now work together to equip our leaders with means of transport to ease their ministry,” Ruteera urged.

In his acceptance speech, Rev. Kwehangaana expressed gratitude to Bishop Onesmus and pledged unwavering commitment to both the spiritual and physical growth of the parish. He thanked the Christians of Rwanyanja for their support and commended Mr. Ruteera for championing economic empowerment through coffee farming, which has enhanced both church progress and household incomes.

Rev. Kwehangaana promised a leadership anchored on dedication, development, and discipleship. “With your support, I am committed to taking Rwanyanja Parish to greater heights,” he declared.

The function also registered significant financial support, with UGX 7,390,000 raised to further the parish’s development initiatives — a testament to the community’s confidence in the new leadership.
