Retired educator Mr. Ziine Narcisius, in a speech delivered today, June 7th, 2024, at Kashenyi Secondary School’s sports day in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District, urged students to embrace sports activities for their potential benefits to health and prosperity.
Mr. Narcisius acknowledged former students of Kashenyi Secondary School who have found success in sports in Qatar and the Netherlands, underscoring the importance of sports for physical fitness and as a pathway to economic opportunities.
Davis Mutabanura, Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), commended both the students and administration of Kashenyi Secondary School for their outstanding achievements in sports at the national level. He emphasized the importance of supporting sports as a source of entertainment and as a means to alleviate boredom, contributing to overall lifespan expansion.
Rotarian Canon Twinomujuni Wycliff Makky, the head teacher of Kashenyi Secondary School, challenged students to set ambitious goals, emphasizing that the sports day was organized to equip students with knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary for sportsmanship.
The competitions were divided into categories based on the students’ classes, with Senior Four leading with 363 points, followed by Senior One with 270 points, Senior Six with 223 points, Senior Five with 188 points, Senior Three with 123 points, and Senior Two with 92 points.
Outstanding participants were rewarded with various scholastic materials, including notebooks, mathematical sets, and pens, as a form of motivation.
