Residents of Buraro Ward, Kitagata Town Council in Sheema District, have raised concerns over a big stone at a spot known as Omurusindura along the Kagamba–Kitagata Road.

It is reported that the road, which is now under the Ministry of Works, needs urgent renovation as it is full of potholes that are causing accidents among road users, especially boda boda riders.

Speaking to our reporter, the Councillor for Buraro Ward, Edinah Ngabirano, expressed her frustration, saying residents are worried that the big stone is likely to fall and cause accidents on the road.

She further noted that the road is full of potholes and needs renovation, adding that several accidents have already been registered due to its poor condition. She called upon top leadership to first remove the stone and then repair the potholes to ensure better service delivery.

Amson Tumukunde, a resident of Buraro Ward, also raised concerns about the road, acknowledging that residents have lived in fear of the big stone falling from the rocks that were placed beside the road during road works a long time ago. He said the stone is likely to fall onto the main road and cause accidents to road users.

He further noted that the spot is on a sharp corner, making it even more dangerous, and called upon the government to remove the stone and cover the potholes on the road to reduce accidents caused by the poor road condition.

However, speaking to our reporter, the Chairperson LC5 of Sheema District, Jemimah Tumwijukye Buhanda, revealed that she is also aware of the situation on the Kagamba–Kitagata Road. She said she personally inspected the area, took pictures, and submitted them to the Ministry of Works and the District Engineer. She added that she is expecting action to be taken as follow-ups continue to prevent any possible accidents caused by the falling stone.
