Residents of Nyamuniga Cell in Kihanga Parish, Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District, are expressing dissatisfaction with their fellow residents, accusing them of impeding the development of the transport network in the area.
Back in 2018, more than 140 families in Nyamuniga Cell came together to initiate a road construction project under the Communal Work policy, aiming to connect them to Rukungiri Municipality at Ikuniro junction.
However, residents are now raising concerns that the progress of the project is being obstructed by Kemirembe Hope, the area Chairperson LC2 of Kihanga Parish. Allegedly, she has refused to allow the road to pass through their family land and has suggested an impractical route.
Twinamatsiko Yorokamu, the Chairperson LC1, acknowledges that the project is facing significant hindrances, but they are determined to complete other sections of the road while seeking guidance from relevant authorities.
Mugisha Benon, also known as Aunt, the Chairperson LC3 of Buhunga Sub County, mentions that a community sensitization event was conducted, attended by Kemirembe Hope. During the event, she disclosed that the Sub County leadership is considering summoning her.
In our attempt to gather comments from Kemirembe Hope, she declined to answer or return the call.
