After years of delay, the renovation works at Nyabushenyi Health Centre 2 in Nyabushenyi Parish, Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri District, have finally commenced. The project, initiated earlier this year, gained momentum through persistent efforts by Hon Mathias Rwabugumi, the representative for Nyarushanje Sub County and the Secretary for Health in Rukungiri District Council, in collaboration with the LC5 chairperson of Rukungiri District.
Local residents, who had long given up hope on the government addressing the dilapidated state of the health facility, are now expressing their joy. They anticipate an improvement in the working conditions for medical personnel and are optimistic about accessing better health services.
Hon Mathias Rwabugumi, in his capacity as the district councilor for Nyarushanje Sub County, assured the community that the ongoing work meets high standards. He personally inspected the site, expressing satisfaction with the progress. He urged fellow local leaders and residents to actively supervise the renovations to ensure the final outcome meets the expected quality.
In addition to renovating the health center building, the project includes the refurbishment of a 10,000-liter water tank at the facility. The health center, previously lacking proper infrastructure and water systems, had left medical workers and patients facing difficulties and having to travel long distances in search of essential services.
