Pupils of Kyabashenyi Primary School in Nyamunuka Town Council, Kajara County in Ntungamo District have been urged to remain focused on their studies if they are to secure a brighter future.

The call was made by Rev. Ronald Timuzingu, the Parish Priest at St. John’s Kyabashenyi Church of Uganda in Bwongyera Archdeaconry, South Ankole Diocese, while officiating at a thanksgiving ceremony where the church rewarded pupils who achieved First Grade in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

Rev. Timuzingu emphasized the importance of education and encouraged learners to remain disciplined and committed to their studies. He noted that since the school was founded by the church, it was important for the institution to continue supporting and motivating learners to excel academically.

As part of the celebration, the church rewarded the best-performing pupils with mattresses in recognition of their outstanding performance in the 2025 PLE results. According to Rev. Timuzingu, the initiative aims at motivating the learners as they advance to the next level of their education.

He further revealed that the church is planning to support the school by providing a computer to help learners acquire information technology skills. In addition, the church intends to continue supporting candidates through the provision of trial examinations to help them prepare better for national exams.

The Headteacher of Kyabashenyi Primary School, Segawa Moses, expressed gratitude to the school foundation body led by the church for its continued support towards the development of the school.

Segawa revealed that a total of 57 pupils registered and sat for the 2025 PLE examinations, out of which 10 passed in First Grade. He described the results as an outstanding improvement compared to recent years.

He attributed the success to teamwork, unity, and cooperation among teachers, parents, and pupils, which he said played a significant role in improving the academic performance of the school.

The School PTA Chairperson, Abel Arinaitwe, also commended the school administration and teaching staff for their dedication that resulted in the impressive performance.

He urged parents to prioritize their children’s education and to enroll them in schools they can comfortably afford. Arinaitwe noted that many parents spend large amounts of money taking their children to expensive schools, which sometimes makes it difficult for them to sustain their children’s education up to higher learning institutions.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of parents whose children received mattresses, Moreen Tumusimisikye thanked Rev. Timuzingu and the teaching staff for motivating the learners through the rewards.

She encouraged pupils to remain committed to their studies and reminded parents that education is the greatest wealth they can leave for their children.
