Boona FM FC from Rukungiri District played out a 1-1 draw with the Rukiga District Select side in a friendly match held at Kantare Playground in Kashambya Sub-county, Rukiga District. The match, organized as part of community mobilization activities ahead of Boona FM’s upcoming anniversary celebrations, attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic fans.

After a goalless first half, Boona FM FC took the lead in the 55th minute when Tinyefuza Sadam found the back of the net, putting the visitors ahead. However, the hosts responded strongly, and Ainemaani Onesmus God equalized in the 79th minute to ensure the match ended in a stalemate after 90 minutes.

The friendly fixture was organized to strengthen the relationship between 91.8 Boona FM and its listeners in Rukiga District and neighboring areas. It also served as part of a broader campaign to mobilize fans for the station’s 9th anniversary celebrations scheduled for July 7, 2026.

Speaking to spectators, Boona FM Station Manager and events promoter, Mr. Kakyene Namanya, expressed gratitude to Rukiga residents for their continued support over the past eight years. He pledged that the station would continue delivering quality services, including timely information, business promotion, and community sensitization.

Mr. Namanya, who was warmly received alongside his team, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the station and the community. He encouraged residents to actively participate in Boona FM’s programs and attend its upcoming anniversary celebrations, urging them to purchase early bird tickets and take advantage of advertising opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Kashambya Sub-county LCIII Chairperson, Mr. Bandaganiire Elneho, welcomed Boona FM to the area and commended the station for its role in promoting unity, supporting local businesses, and showcasing western Uganda to a wider audience.

He called on residents to continue supporting the station by tuning in regularly and participating in its activities to benefit from the information and opportunities it provides. Mr. Bandaganiire also applauded Boona FM for promoting sports and nurturing local talent, while urging young people to use their abilities responsibly and maintain discipline both on and off the field to achieve success in their careers.
