The Field Force Unit (FFU) of the Uganda Police Force has embarked on a one-week residential Public Order Management (POM) training in preparation for the forthcoming 2026 general elections.

The training, which started on September 9, 2025, is taking place at the former National Teachers College Kabale and is being conducted under the leadership of ACP Ulama David from police headquarters. It is overseen by the Regional Police Commander (RPC) Kigezi, SSP Wabwire Alex, and coordinated by FFU Zonal Commander SP Ategeka.

A total of 341 officers have been drawn from across the entire Kigezi region to participate. The trainees include personnel from the FFU, General Duties, CID, CI, and Traffic departments.

According to Kigezi Regional Police PRO ASP Maate Elly, the training aims to refresh officers’ skills in crowd control techniques, tactical maneuvers, the use of explosives, conflict resolution, and risk assessment to ensure effective policing during the election season.

ASP Maate reassured residents that there is no cause for alarm as the activities are routine preparations. “We encourage the public to continue with their normal activities as the rehearsals are ongoing,” he said.
