The territorial police in Kanungu District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 28-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Emimex, also known as Boy, a resident of Kayenje Cell in Nyarurambi Sub County.

According to reports, Emimex’s body was discovered this morning (25th October 2025) floating in River Mpangango by children who had gone to fetch water. Police were immediately notified, and a team of officers visited and processed the scene before a postmortem examination was conducted on-site by a doctor from Kambuga Hospital.

Preliminary findings revealed that the deceased had a broken head bone, raising suspicion that he was murdered and his body dumped in the river to disguise the act as drowning.

The body has since been handed over to the relatives for burial as inquiries continue. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend those behind the suspected crime.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the perpetrators will be brought to book.
