Police in Mitooma District have started investigations into the murder of a 50-year-old man.
The incident happened on March 24, 2025, in Bikungu Village, Bikungu Parish, Mutara Town Council, Mitooma District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Osbert Runwa, a 50-year-old peasant and resident of Bikungu Village.
It is alleged that on March 23, 2025, at around 10:00 PM, the deceased went to Mutara Town for leisure and did not return home.
However, on March 24, 2025, he was found lying dead along the road to his home with injuries on the head, arms, and legs.
Edinansi Bamuhindwire, a 76-year-old resident of Bikungu Village, said the matter was reported at Mutara Town Council Police Station, and inquiries commenced immediately.
Tumusiime stated that the body was taken to Kitagata Hospital mortuary in Sheema District for a post-mortem as investigations continue.
