The police in Bushenyi District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 39-year-old man who hanged and burned himself.
The deceased has been identified as Kongo Saulo, a 39-year-old male resident of Rugaga village in Nyabubare parish, Nyabubare sub-county, Bushenyi District. He was originally from Namisindwa District.
On October 28, 2023, at approximately 9:00 AM, the chairperson of Lc1 in Rugaga village reported to the Nyabubare police station that the body of a casual worker was found hanging and burnt in the house of Mr. Oman, where he was working and sleeping. This discovery came after his fellow workers had been searching for him but couldn’t find him. Instead, they found the deceased inside the house where he had been sleeping at the worksite.
Tumusiime, the police spokesperson, stated that the body was discovered hanging in the house with a wire tied around the neck and connected to one end of a wooden beam in the house, approximately 8 feet from the ground.
