Police in Rubanda District have launched an investigation into the murder of a 57-year-old man who was found dead in a pool of blood in Muruhinga Cell, Muruhinga Ward, Habihutu Town Council.
According to police reports, the deceased, identified as Byomuhangi Jorame, a resident of the same area, was discovered at around 10:00 PM on February 13, 2025, by German Robert and two of his friends while they were returning home from Habihutu Trading Centre. Initially, they believed he was still alive and attempted to assist him but found that he had already passed away.
German Robert immediately alerted a local resident, Elasie, who then mobilized other community members to the scene before notifying the authorities. The incident was reported by Twikirize Julius, a 26-year-old peasant from Muruhinga Ward, at around 6:30 AM on February 14, 2025.
The police swiftly responded, with a homicide team and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) arriving at the location to document evidence and commence investigations. A postmortem examination has been conducted, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder.
The suspect(s) responsible for Byomuhangi Jorame’s death remain unknown at this time, and authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the investigation by providing any relevant information.
ASP Maate Elly, the Police Spokesperson for Kigezi Region, confirmed that a case of murder has been registered at Bufundi Police Post, and further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
