The police in Rukiga are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged lynching of an unidentified male adult by a mob.
It is reported that on the night of June 20, 2024, at around 00:01 hours, the deceased, armed with a panga, went to the home of Niwamanya Benjamin and stole a goat. He was seen dragging the goat by people who raised an alarm. Local residents then surrounded and killed him.
The police were notified, and they visited and documented the scene. The body was transported to Kabale Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
At the scene, police found the goat, a panga, and three sticks of Supersport cigarettes. The deceased was wearing a black jacket, black trousers, and open shoes (flats).
Anyone missing a loved one is urged to visit the hospital mortuary for identification and to arrange a proper burial.
Investigations are underway, and anyone found to be involved in this act will be prosecuted and face charges of murder.
