Police in Kabale District are intensifying their search for suspects linked to the brutal murder of David Karyamarwaki, a 57-year-old resident of Nyamabare Village in Kitumba Sub-County, whose lifeless body was discovered in his home early Monday morning.
According to police reports, Karyamarwaki was allegedly hacked to death by unknown assailants who broke into his home at an unknown time during the night. The attackers inflicted three deep cuts to his head and shoulder, causing severe bleeding that led to his death. The gruesome discovery was made by neighbors on the morning of October 21, 2024.
John Nyakire, the Local Council II Chairperson of the area, was alerted by concerned residents and immediately informed the Officer in Charge (OC) of Kitumba Police Station. The police, led by the District CID officer and a team of homicide detectives, quickly responded to the scene, conducting a thorough investigation. The scene was documented, statements were recorded from witnesses, and a postmortem examination was carried out before Karyamarwaki’s body was handed over to his relatives for burial.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased may have been embroiled in a land dispute with individuals who remain unidentified. Karyamarwaki was reportedly alone and asleep in his house at the time of the attack.
