The territorial police in Kabale are hunting for a woman suspected of murder following a fatal assault in Kaharo Sub-county, Kabale District.
The suspect, identified as Evelyn Ayebare, is accused of assaulting 48-year-old Natukunda Elias, a resident of Nyakabungo Cell, Nyakasharara Parish, Kaharo Sub-county.
According to police reports, the incident happened on September 12, 2025, at around 5:30 PM at Omukikazi Trading Centre in Butoore Cell. It is alleged that Ayebare hit Natukunda with a piece of wood after he allegedly called her a prostitute, which reportedly provoked her.
Natukunda sustained serious injuries and later succumbed to the assault.
Police have since registered a case of murder at Kaharo Police Station. The crime scene was visited, processed, and documented. Statements from witnesses have been recorded, and a postmortem has been conducted.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Maate Elly called on anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to volunteer it to police to ensure she is brought to justice.
Investigations are still ongoing.
