Police in Kabale District are investigating a gruesome murder after the lifeless body of a woman was discovered at a local lodge under mysterious circumstances.
The victim, believed to be Orishaba Allen (identity yet to be confirmed), was found dead on the morning of July 30, 2025, in a room at Cheers Pub and Accommodation, located behind the former Equity Bank building in Central East Cell, Central Division, Kabale Municipality.
According to preliminary police reports, the deceased checked into the lodge at around 9:45 PM on July 29 with a male companion identified as Andy Julius, reportedly a resident of Katuna. The two were registered under those names and allocated a room for the night.
Tragedy was uncovered the following morning when a lodge attendant, during routine cleaning, discovered the woman’s body lying in a pool of blood with four deep stab wounds to her chest and stomach. A blood-stained knife was recovered beside the body, along with an unused HIV/syphilis test kit and a syringe.
The incident was immediately reported to Kabale Central Police Station. The scene was cordoned off and processed by crime investigators, while the body was transferred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the case and called on members of the public with missing relatives to visit the mortuary to help identify the victim. He also urged anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward and assist with the investigation.
“Inquiries are still ongoing,” said ASP Maate. “We call upon the public to volunteer any information that may help us bring the perpetrator to justice.”
