Police in Mitooma District are searching for unknown assailants responsible for the murder of a 22-year-old man under unclear circumstances.
The incident occurred on the night of July 2, 2024, and was reported on July 3, 2024, in Nyandago C Village, Bwera Parish, Kanyabwanga Subcounty, Mitooma District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as James Byamukama, a 22-year-old Mukiga casual laborer residing at the mentioned address.
It is alleged that on the night of July 2, 2024, Byamukama left his employer’s home around 9:00 PM to buy cigarettes from Kareere Trading Center but never returned.
On July 3, 2024, his body was discovered along the Kanyabwanga-Nyandago road with abrasions on the side of his chest.
George Tumwebaze, 63, the chairman of LCI of Nyandago C Village, reported the case to the police, stating that the deceased was employed and residing at the home of Stephen Fokushaba.
Tumusiime stated that a post-mortem examination conducted at Mitooma Health Center IV revealed that the cause of death was cerebral anoxia resulting from a cervical vertebral fracture.
