Police in Mitooma District are currently searching for a 20-year-old man suspected of murdering his biological brother.
The spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi police, Marcial Tumusiime, has confirmed the incident. The suspect, identified as Brian Kubirihwa, aged 20, works as a boda-boda rider and resides in Mayanga D Village, Mitooma District. Tumusiime has also identified the victim as Venensio Tumuhimbise, aged 22, a resident of the same address.
Reportedly, on the night of March 13, 2024, around 10:00 PM, the victim returned home to find his mother already asleep. He attempted to wake her up, but she did not respond. Subsequently, he called upon his brother, the suspect, to assist in waking their mother, but the suspect refused.
This refusal led to a quarrel between the two brothers, escalating into a physical altercation. As a result, the victim sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them on March 15, 2024, around 4:00 PM.
According to Eliphaz Mutaka, an 83-year-old peasant who reported the incident to the police, the victim’s mother, identified only as Fausta, hired a nurse on March 14, 2024, to attend to her son’s injuries, but unfortunately, it was too late.
Tumusiime stated that the deceased’s body has been transported to Mitooma Health Centre IV for postmortem examination, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
