The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Mitooma District vows to mobilize overwhelming support for the National Resistance Movement Chairman and Presidential Flag Bearer Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections.
These remarks were made during a press conference held in Kansheshero Town Council, Central Ward, at General Kahinda Otafiire’s home to endorse H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as their president and to combine forces to rally behind him.
Counsel Asiimwe Nicholas Bangizi, Head of the Media Task Force PLU Western Region, said the major reason for this press conference was to show their support and ensure all NRM flag bearers win the 2026 general elections with 99% through the Tuko Pamoja campaign, aiming at protecting the gains and endorsing H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as their President in the 2026 general elections and General Kahinda Otafiire for Ruhinda Constituency.
He further asked the returning officer to do well what they are even paid to do — to carry out a free and fair election process — and pledged their full support to General Kahinda Otafiire as Member of Parliament for Ruhinda Constituency. He also noted that they will work together towards receiving H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on 3rd December 2025 in Mitooma District.
Namanya Adrian, Treasurer NRM Mitooma District representing the NRM Chairperson, speaking to the media, expressed confirmation that in conjunction with PLU (MK) and the NRM Party, they are willing to work closely to campaign and mobilize support for H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in this term of office, thanking the MK Movement for allowing them to work with NRM in this political season to push NRM flag bearers.
He further said that as the NRM fraternity in Mitooma District, they have already set up strategies to move door-to-door, having mobilized 63 people, and each of those 63 people is required to have 2 people with them as one way of mobilizing for all NRM flag bearers. He highlighted that they have highly benefited from the leadership, citing the establishment of health centers, schools boosting the education sector, and various roads being worked upon. He added that this is a big win for NRM, having combined efforts to outcompete other political parties in the district.
Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, Member of Parliament for Ruhinda Constituency and Minister of Internal Affairs, as well as the flag bearer for Ruhinda Constituency seeking another term, applauded PLU Mitooma District for agreeing to work together and embrace NRM flag bearers in the district, saying he is ready to embark on household development and poverty eradication projects, which are his priority in this term of office.
He further said that so far, in his term of office, he has been able to lobby 55 scholarships at Victoria University, rehabilitate schools like Kansheshero Primary School and many others. If re-elected, he intends to work on the Mitooma–Rukungiri road to have it tarmacked, complete the piped water supply project in the district, and provide computers in schools to enable them to compete globally with children in urban areas, as well as struggle for social justice and provide electricity to areas not yet connected.
In his achievements over the 5 years he has served as MP for Ruhinda Constituency, he mentioned providing piped water to the people, ongoing construction of Mitooma Hospital, extending electricity to more areas, and many others.
