The nomination exercise for candidates vying for various political positions under the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) in Rukungiri District officially closed on Thursday, 31st July 2025, with a strong call for integrity, unity, and fair campaigning.
Speaking during the final nomination session held at the BCF main hall in Buyanja Town Council, Caleb Musimenta, the Office Administrator for PFF Rukungiri, urged all aspiring leaders to uphold the values of honesty, discipline, and effective communication. He emphasized that these qualities are vital for successful elections and the overall prosperity of the party.
Musimenta commended the overwhelming turnout witnessed throughout the nomination period, noting that it was a clear indicator of increasing public interest in leadership and governance under the PFF banner. He also encouraged the nominees to remain committed to peaceful campaigning and to focus on service delivery for the betterment of their communities.
Among those nominated was Agaba Emmy Rubondo, the incumbent LC3 Chairperson for Buyanja Sub-County, who is seeking re-election. Rubondo expressed optimism about his return, pointing to notable achievements during his term, including road construction and the establishment of new office premises.
Also nominated was Sylivia Turinawe, the Woman Councilor for Kasheshe and Nyakabungo parishes, who is seeking a third term. She expressed satisfaction with her record of representation and expressed hope for broader party success despite current challenges.
Other notable nominees included Simon Mwebesa, Emmanuel Kiiza Kirema, Constance Asiimwe, and Turyomunsi Edward Kagina, all of whom expressed confidence in the support they have received from the public.
The nomination exercise marks a key milestone in PFF’s preparations for the 2026 general elections, as the party positions itself to secure leadership at various levels across Rukungiri District.
