The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) National Delegation is in the Kigezi Sub-Region for the Federal State of Kigezi Convention, held at Hill Top Hotel in Kabale Municipality under the theme “Empowering Kigezi for Inclusive Development.”
The convention will include the election and swearing-in of new leaders under PFF structures in Kigezi, as well as the official opening of the party’s new regional offices in Kabale Town.
Speaking to journalists, PFF Secretary General Hon. Ibrahim Semujju Nganda said the party is traversing the country to assess its structures, elect leaders at district and regional levels, and assign responsibilities ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He added that the party is engaging various stakeholders, including genuine opposition groups, the clergy, and civil society organizations, to push for inclusive development rather than limiting their agenda to political positions such as Member of Parliament or President.
Hon. Dr. Nicholas Kamara, Western Region PFF Vice President and Kabale Municipality MP, emphasized that the party is reorganizing to field candidates in upcoming elections despite intimidation and delays in securing full registration.
He expressed concern over what he described as unfair treatment of opposition parties by security authorities, noting that while NRM candidates freely staged rallies during their primaries, opposition gatherings were being restricted.
Kamara also criticized rising corruption, particularly bribery in job recruitment, and called for the release of all political prisoners, including Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye.
The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) was formed following internal misunderstandings within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
Other leaders in attendance include Ingrid Turinawe, National Chairperson of Special Interest Groups; Dr. Lulume Bayiga, Vice President for Buganda Region; Fred Tulyamuweza, Governor of Kigezi Sub-Region; Faridah Nangonzi, Head of Women League; among others.
