Parents have been urged to welcome their children back home as schools break for holidays, with a focus on ensuring their safety and fostering discipline. The call was made by Robert Kanusu, Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Mbarara City North Division, during the fifth concert and graduation ceremony of Mbarara Quality Kindergarten in Lugazi Kakoba, part of Mbarara City South Division.

Kanusu emphasized the importance of parents actively engaging their children in domestic tasks, steering them away from excessive television watching. He also advocated for a reevaluation of the government’s decision to close Primary Teachers’ Colleges, which he sees as vital for laying the foundation of quality teaching skills for toddlers.

Mayor Robert Mugabi Kacebezi of Mbarara City echoed the sentiment, appealing to parents to not only welcome their children warmly but also to protect them from potential dangers. He cautioned against children escaping from homes and getting involved in risky activities, urging parents to instill good discipline and avoid sending their children to unsafe environments.

Mrs. Asasira Jesca, the director of Mbarara Quality Kindergarten Lugazi, explained that the purpose of organizing the concert and graduation was to provide accountability to parents, promote co-curricular activities, and encourage a love for education among children.

Rev Apollo Tigume, the Chaplain of Ankole Diocese, emphasized the significance of parents offering genuine parental care to their children. He stressed the importance of engaging children in domestic work and teaching them good discipline, as these factors are crucial for fostering a disciplined and responsible future generation. Rev Tigume underscored that children are a divine treasure and the future leaders and citizens of the country.
