Parents and Local leaders from Kebisoni Sub County have called off a planned demonstration over the delayed opening of Kebisoni Seed Secondary School
An impromptu mediation meeting between the district administration and Sub County authorities was held on Tuesday at the Seed School premises chaired by the district chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama.
On 28th August 2019, the government through the Ministry of Education and Sports commenced the construction of Kebisoni Seed Secondary School at a cost of 2.9 billion.
The construction works were expected to be completed before August 2020 but stalled up to date.
On 15th January 2023, Parents and Local Leaders threatened demonstrate if the school fails to open this term which forced the district administration to organize a mediation meeting for information dissemination about progress.
The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner Steven Nsubuga Bewayo assured parents, that a team of district officials joined by representatives from Ministry will on 8th February 2023 camp at the school to sort out every pending issue before 15th February 2023 and urged the parents to stay calm.
The Rukungiri LCV chairperson Kyomukama Geoffrey noted that the existing challenges are small that will be soon sorted out to enable the school open.
The Kebisoni LC3 chairperson Kahanyi Charles said that the information they received has given them hope and asked parents to be patient for a while.
