More than 4 million UGX was raised at Nyakabungo C.O.U during the celebration of a golden jubilee by Wcliff Rwabashaija and his wife Mbabazi Alice, as married couples were urged to embrace cooperation, reconciliation, and discipline to also achieve the same.
The incident happened today at Nyakabungo C.O.U Parish, Nyakabungo Parish, Buyanja Subcounty, Rukungiri District during a church service which included celebrations of Mr. Rwabashaija and his wife for finishing 50 years in holy matrimony. However, the ceremony also included fundraising to raise money to buy a projector for the same church.
Canon Rev. Kamushangire James, while preaching, appreciated the congregation for their support and for turning up in large numbers as witnesses. However, he prioritized thanking Mr. Rwabashaija and his wife Alice for being an exemplary couple who always cooperate, work hard, and fear God—qualities which have supported them to raise a strong family for all 50 years.
Following the support of the church, he continued to praise Mr. Wcliff, thanking him for having the passion to support the church. The bridegroom requested that the money raised during the fundraising must be accounted for and used to buy a projector for Nyakabungo Church of Uganda as part of his legacy, where Christians will always remember him.
Speaking with journalists, Ishmael Akampamya, who’s the son of Wcliff and Alice and was representing fellow family members, expressed his gratitude and said he felt emotional pride to see his parents celebrating 50 years in marriage. However, what’s important, he clarified, are the many things he has learnt from his parents such as endless love, cooperation, passion for friendship, and the kind heart to bring peace, harmony, and unity.
He used the opportunity to recognize the great work of Boona Radio Rugamba Mazima for exploring the heights across the world and witnessing his dad’s occasion of celebrating 50 years in marriage.
Meanwhile, Wcliff Rwabashaija, who was the bridegroom, also told journalists that he is now 73 years old and has served in almost 17 Ugandan churches. However, he retired from priesthood in 2000. He expressed that through sacrificing his life to God and being born again, repentance and reconciliation have helped him achieve his dream of having a successful marriage in his life history.
He therefore called on all married couples to work and cooperate together, reconcile, apologize, and repent to overcome life challenges and win difficult battles in their marriages.
More than 4 million UGX, which was raised during the fundraising ceremony, is set to buy a projector for the Nyakabungo Church of Uganda Parish as a way of thanking God and in recognition of the church’s love and support for the Rwabashaija family.
