More than 4,000 residents affected by a devastating hailstorm in early February in Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, have received relief food courtesy of Gen. Henry Tumukunde, an aspiring candidate for the Rukungiri Municipality parliamentary seat.

The affected residents gathered from various areas within the division, each receiving 5 kg of posho for home consumption. The disaster had left many without food or hope, making the relief a much-needed intervention.

Grace Rusheesha, one of Gen. Tumukunde’s campaign leaders, expressed gratitude for the positive public response to the aid. She emphasized that Tumukunde is committed to serving all residents, regardless of religion, race, or background, and assured that none of the affected individuals would be left without assistance.

Speaking at the distribution event in Kibaare Cell, LC1 Chairperson Frank Turyahikayo praised Gen. Tumukunde for his generosity. He revealed that local leaders had previously written to various offices seeking assistance but had not received any response. He urged residents to elect leaders who genuinely care about their welfare.

Beneficiaries, including Speech Musimenta and Denis Tumwijukye, expressed deep appreciation for the relief, calling on other leaders to follow Tumukunde’s example. They pledged their support for him in the upcoming elections.

Amon Niwamanya, the Chief Operations Officer for the relief initiative, encouraged residents to recognize and support those who stand with them in times of need. He assured them that this was just the beginning and promised even greater support in the future.
