Police in Rukungiri has registered a hit-and-run fatal accident that claimed the life of 67-year-old Fricano Rwakanika a resident of Nyakayinga cell Rwamugoma parish Ruhinda sub county Rukungiri district.
The accident happened on Monday 4th September 2023 at around 10:00 a.m. opposite Centenary Bank along Republic Road Rukungiri municipality Rukungiri district.
It involved an unknown motorcycle and the above pedestrian.
It’s alleged that, while the deceased was walking along the road facing the roundabout, a speeding motorcyclist that was following him, knocked him from behind leaving him dead on the road.
Police was alerted, the scene was visited and documented, and the body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre 3 for post-mortem and later handed over to the relatives.
The cause of the accident is being investigated and the involved vehicle is being traced.
