Nyakibale Catholic Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Conrad Atuhaire, has urged Ugandan youths to value all types of employment, warning against dismissing certain jobs amid the country’s rising unemployment challenge.

Fr. Conrad made the remarks during the thanksgiving Mass at the 9th graduation ceremony of Nyakibale Vocational Training Institute, held at the school in the Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality. He emphasized that many youths, after completing their studies, often wait for white-collar jobs while overlooking opportunities in other sectors.

He further encouraged graduates to always support their families, noting that parents play a critical role in helping young people reach milestones. “Even if one is educated, a parent’s blessing remains paramount in fueling a child’s journey to success,” he said.

According to Mr. Amos Kanyinondi, 200 students graduated across the academic years 2021/2022, 2022/2023, 2023/2024, and 2024/2025. He described the ceremony as a significant academic milestone, reflecting the institute’s commitment to equipping students with practical skills and knowledge for personal growth and nation-building.

Sr. Thereza Namusisi Masonko, the institute’s Principal, highlighted that students performed exceptionally well in national examinations and were awarded certificates and diplomas in various disciplines. She also noted that all programs at the school are accredited by the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) and Makerere University.

Speaking as a guest of honor, Stanbic Bank’s Independent Non-Executive Director, Mr. Norbert Kagoro, encouraged graduates to work diligently and not squander time, reminding them that youth is fleeting and effort is needed to achieve meaningful development.
