The Parish Priest of Nyakibale Catholic Parish, Rev. Father Conrad Atuhaire, has urged Christian believers to use the Lenten season as an opportunity to deepen their faith and strengthen the spiritual life of their families.
Speaking during the Ash Wednesday Mass that marked the beginning of Lent, Fr. Atuhaire emphasized the importance of three key practices: prayer, fasting, and charitable works. He encouraged the congregation to embrace these practices as tools for transforming their households into strong Christian families committed to faith and eternal life.
Fr. Atuhaire also highlighted that Ash Wednesday is a day of reflection for all Christians, not just Catholics. He explained that the day symbolizes humanity’s creation from the soil and our eventual return to it, offering believers a moment of reconciliation with God and a call for His mercy.
The priest further called on the faithful to actively share God’s word through their prayers, fasting, and acts of charity, stressing that such actions are essential to protecting their families from evil and guiding them toward righteousness.
Among the congregation, several believers—including Arthur Karetwa, Arinaitwe Angella, Amos Kanyinondi, and Arindabyoona Prossy, shared their personal reflections, expressing a renewed commitment to forgiveness, reconciliation, and steadfastness in their faith.
