Residents of Nyakabungo and Kasheeshe parishes in Buyanja Sub-county, Rukungiri District, have expressed their gratitude for the construction of roads in their area, viewing it as a significant boost to local development.
James Tidiwensi, a resident of Nyakabungo parish, thanked the relevant authorities for the road construction, emphasizing its numerous benefits. He stated that improved roads open up remote areas to development, enhancing access to natural resources and promoting economic growth. According to him, the new roads will lead to better transportation, improved communication, and increased safety, contributing to the country’s overall economic progress.
Turinawe Sylvia, the woman area councilor for Nyakabungo and Kasheeshe parishes, highlighted that roads provide an efficient and reliable means of transportation for both people and goods.
She noted that the new infrastructure will connect communities, facilitate trade, and provide access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Sylvia further mentioned that improved infrastructure is crucial for economic growth as it attracts businesses and investments, stimulates job creation, promotes tourism, and reduces transportation costs for businesses, making them more competitive in the global market.
Agaba Emmy Rubondo, the LCIII chairperson of Buyanja Sub-county, echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of road safety. He noted that properly constructed and maintained roads reduce the risk of accidents, making transportation smoother and more efficient. This leads to fewer injuries, fatalities, and property damage.
Agaba added that the ongoing construction of the 8-kilometer road will contribute to social development by improving access to education, healthcare, and other essential services.
He also pointed out that roads foster community engagement, facilitate social interaction, and promote cultural exchange, particularly in rural areas, while encouraging the use of public transportation to reduce environmental impact.
