The Kisoro Chief Magistrates Court has ordered the eviction of Bernard Bakyenga from land situated in Kabaya Valley, Nyarubande, Rushekye Village, Remera Parish, Nyanamo Town Council, Bukimbiri County, Kisoro District.

In a warrant for vacant possession of land, dated September 2, 2024, Chief Magistrate Kenneth Komakech directed Ronald Ainebyona of Dark and Co. Associates to place the plaintiff, Godfrey Nkurunziza, in possession of the disputed property.

The warrant also authorized Ainebyona to remove Bakyenga, his agents, or any other individuals bound by the court’s decree who refused to vacate the land. His Worship Komakech instructed the Kisoro police to ensure the execution was carried out in an orderly and peaceful manner.

On Tuesday, Ainebyona successfully executed the court order, placing Nkurunziza in possession of the land. The execution was met with jubilation by Nkurunziza’s family and local residents.

The land had been under dispute for 45 years.
