Ntungamo police on Tuesday evening arrested five supporters of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Party at their offices in Ntungamo Town, accusing them of wearing party colors and participating in an illegal assembly.

The arrests followed a party meeting earlier in the day to launch PFF activities in the district. According to police, the gathering amounted to an unauthorized assembly and procession within the town.

The operation was led by Ntungamo Officer in Charge of ICT, Mr. Enock Musiime, who ordered the arrest of all individuals found wearing party T-shirts. Those detained include the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Richard Agaba Babyorozya; Secretary General, Mr. Jackson Namanya; Mr. Joseph Mwesigye; Mr. John Kabagambe; and Mr. Patrick Arinaitwe.

Ntungamo District Police Commander, Mr. Joshua Mwesigwa, later confirmed that the group was being investigated for holding an illegal assembly and marching through Ntungamo Town without prior clearance.

However, PFF district treasurer Ms. Alice Kafoda dismissed the allegations, saying the supporters’ only action was walking about 500 meters from the meeting venue to their party offices.

The earlier meeting, which took place without incident, was addressed by prominent party leaders, including PFF Speaker Ms. Salamu Musumba, former Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mr. Wafula Oguttu, Rubabo County MP Mr. Naboth Namanya, former party electoral commission chairperson Mr. Wycliffe Bakandonda, and Ankole Region head Mr. Stanley Katembeya, among others.
