NTUNGAMO
A public exchange of words between Sam Mucunguzi, the Ntungamo district chairperson, and Naboth Mpiriirwe, the former district secretary for finance, administration, and planning over the latter’s recent sacking from the Ntungamo district executive committee yesterday left mourners in Ntungamo stunned.
The two politicians traded barbs at the send-off of Eliazari Kariba, a resident of omunkondo village, Nyaburiza sub-county, Ntungamo district who succumbed to diabetes.
Eliazari was born in1926 and died at the age of 97 leaving his wife Siadorah Kariba and eight children.
Drama started when Naboth Mpirirwe who was recently sacked over incompetence, used bible quotes to exonerate himself, saying he did not demand bribes from jobseekers as recently alleged.
He says he is facing a hate campaign and that is why he was removed from office
However the Lc5 boss Sam Mucunguzi did not mince words when his turn to speak came
He accused Mpiriirwe of demanding bribes from people in exchange for favors and services.
Mucunguzi said he could not ignore such behavior and leave Mpiriirwe in office. He threatened to sack leaders who will continue selling public services advising Mpirirwe to return the money he took from a Jobseeker as a bribe
