Hon. Mary Paula Kebirungi Turyahikayo, the NRM aspirant for Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament, has today concluded her campaign rallies in Katoonya, Kilimbe, and Kafunjo parishes in Nyakishenyi Sub-county, pledging to ensure improved service delivery across Rukungiri District.

Hon. Mary Paula, a former Rubabo County legislator, has been traversing parishes in different sub-counties to identify challenges faced by residents while mobilizing support ahead of the forthcoming elections.

She began her consultations in Rujumbura County, where she pledged to lobby government for the establishment of a vocational training institute to equip youth with practical skills. She also promised to lobby for the installation of an electric fence in Bwambara Sub-county following concerns raised by residents over wild animals invading homes and gardens from Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Hon. Mary Paula further committed herself to lobbying for improved road infrastructure, extension of electricity and water services, and enhancement of health and education services across all sub-counties in Rujumbura.

In Rukungiri Municipality, she noted that several areas are still grappling with inadequate access to electricity, water, and other essential services. She pledged to work closely with other leaders to address these gaps and transform Rukungiri into a model municipality.

She also pledged to advocate for the construction of a modern central market to boost trade and economic development.

In Rubabo County, Hon. Mary Paula promised to extend electricity to underserved areas and to follow up on the Kahengye Water Project in a bid to address persistent water shortages.

She also expressed her intention to revive community associations, including youth groups, Bamukaaka, and widows’ groups, noting that such initiatives were key achievements during her previous term as Rubabo County legislator.

Hon. Mary Paula emphasized that she remains energetic, capable, and committed to representing Rukungiri District and steering it towards becoming a model district.

Residents in Rubabo County praised her leadership, citing her role in ensuring electricity coverage in all parishes during her tenure as their Member of Parliament.

During her final rally in Nyakishenyi Sub-county, Hon. Mary Paula urged voters to vote wisely, stressing that their vote is critical to the development of their area. She cautioned against propaganda, money, gifts, and handouts, noting that such practices often lead to poor decision-making.

She further reminded voters to observe the legally required 20-metre distance at polling stations and to safeguard their votes.

Meanwhile, Kasshoborozi Emmanuel, LC I Chairperson of Omukashenyi Village; Turinawe Edward, LC I Chairperson of Burebane Village; Yoronimu Bakunzi, a resident of Burebane; and Mugarura John, LC I Chairperson of Rugarama Village, said they strongly supported Hon. Mary Paula during the NRM primaries and pledged to once again back her in the forthcoming general elections.
