RUKUNGIRI– Authorities at North Kigezi Health Center IV Rugarama have announced their determination to elevate their facility to a hospital level.

This was revealed on Wednesday during the inaugural visit by the Right Reverend Onesmus Asiimwe, Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, who joined the health unit’s staff and leaders in prayer.

Dr. Albert Kaganzi, the in-charge at North Kigezi Health Center IV, shared that plans are underway to construct a multi-story building as part of their preparations for upgrading the facility to a hospital. The planned five-story structure will house various departments, including maternity, pediatrics, and a theatre, among others. He emphasized that they are now focusing on fundraising efforts and called on the public to support this cause.

Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe commended the center for its efforts in addressing the health challenges of Ugandans. He urged nurses to communicate kindly and respectfully with patients, stressing that polite interaction can greatly contribute to patient recovery.

The bishop also endorsed the plan to build the new facility, noting that it would enhance services and support the center’s development toward achieving hospital status.

Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, Chairperson of the Management Committee, expressed his gratitude for the bishop’s visit, believing it would have a positive impact on the facility’s performance.

Kyomuhangi Christine Kakuru, the Rukungiri Assistant District Health Officer in charge of maternal and child health, praised North Kigezi Health Center IV for its efforts in combating diseases.
