Rukungiri district production officer Zephar Karyeija has advised   farmers who normally receive agricultural inputs from the production office through operation wealth creation to join the new parish development model program if they want to benefit.

The operation wealth creation program under the district’s production office has been giving out agricultural inputs like beans, maize, pigs, heifers, hens and many others at the beginning of the season as one way of boosting the farmers income but Karyeija says this will not happen this financial year.

Karyeija says the money that the government has been using to buy those agricultural inputs in the past years has been channeled to the new parish development model program where most farmers are expected to be beneficiaries.

He further says that farmers will  access  money under their parish development model groups to buy the inputs they need

The parish development model is a government strategy for organizing and delivering public and private sector interventions for wealth creation and employment generation at the parish level as the lowest economic planning unit.
