The High Court in Bushenyi has been established to address the backlog of cases and provide judicial services to the broader Bushenyi region. Under the leadership of the local resident judge, Amos Kwizera, this court will handle both civil and capital offense cases in the Greater Bushenyi sub-region.
Partson Baguma, the resident state attorney, has confirmed that all case files previously transferred from the region to Mbarara High Court have been returned to Bushenyi for adjudication.
Councilor Paul Tusubira, representing Paul Tusubira and Co-Advocates, has expressed his support for this initiative. He believes that assigning a resident judge to Bushenyi will significantly reduce the case backlog. Furthermore, he pointed out that there have been cases in the Greater Bushenyi sub-region that have been pending for over 18 years without receiving a fair hearing. He is optimistic that this move will bring much-needed justice to the people in the region.
