In a dedicated endeavor to empower and uplift women, Ritah Atukwasa Bwahika, the Woman Member of Parliament for Mbarara city, has initiated the Women Village Saving Scheme. This program aims to improve the quality of life for women facing challenges with limited savings and income opportunities in the city.
With a significant investment of approximately 500 million, the project seeks to develop a skilled workforce among the marginalized female population. The implementation of sustainable projects is planned across the two divisions of Mbarara city.
During an interview with our reporter today, Ritah Atukwasa Bwahika underscored the importance of forming these saving groups, emphasizing that they represent a crucial step towards enabling Ugandans to benefit from government programs such as the Parish Development Model Program, designed to alleviate poverty in households.
She shared that the program has already been introduced in more than fifty villages within Mbarara city.
