Police in Mitooma District are in pursuit of a 28-year-old man accused of committing murder. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Dickson Kakama, a 28-year-old resident of Kitanoga Cell 1, Nyakatooma Parish, Kashenshero subcounty in Mitooma District.
Tumusiime provided additional details, naming the victim as Abias Mpirwe, a 44-year-old resident of the same address. According to the police spokesperson, the alleged murder took place on January 28, 2024, around midnight, at a bar owned by Kyomugisha Dina.
Reportedly, a dispute arose between the suspect and the victim over a woman named Ainembabazi Eunice, a barmaid whom Kakama was romantically interested in. The disagreement escalated when Kakama requested Mpirwe to leave so that he could engage in a romantic relationship with Ainembabazi.
Moses Tumwijukye, 53, a witness, recounted that Mpirwe refused the request, leading to the suspect’s frustration. In a fit of anger, Kakama reportedly grabbed a bench and struck Mpirwe on the neck. The injured victim was promptly rushed to Kampala International Teaching Hospital, where he was later declared dead on January 31, 2024.
