The Mitooma district security committee has resolved to start closing all boarding schools that do not meet the minimum required standards with effect from today 3rd July 2023 as a way of improving the safety of learners.

Mitooma district RDC Francis Kibuka Amooti said their intelligence has proven that the rebels allegedly escaped to Maramagabo and Kariinju forests and it’s alleged that they have a negative intention.

Benon Karyeija, the Mitooma district chairman said among the few schools that they visited, learners are staying in poor environments saying schools with licenses should operate boarding facilities.

He said parents should be aware of instructions aiming at safeguarding their children to ensure that schools have protective measures, especially in dormitories.
