The Minister of Information Communication, Technology, and National Guidance has stressed the importance of active participation by Ugandans in government projects aimed at eradicating poverty and improving household income.
During the ordination ceremony of four Deacons into the priesthood at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church Rushoroza, Minister Baryomunsi, as the guest of honor, reminded the public about the various programs initiated by the government, such as the Parish Development Model.
This program aims to lift 39 percent of Ugandans out of poverty. The minister emphasized the need for gender equality among the program beneficiaries, ensuring that all categories of people can benefit.
Minister Baryomunsi stated that it is crucial for all Ugandans to actively engage in government initiatives, particularly the Parish Development Model, which has the potential to significantly transform lives.
However, in Kabale, the implementation of the Parish Development Model program has encountered obstacles, resulting in 107 million Shillings being held up in each of the 69 Parish Development Model Saccos.
To address this issue, Jovuline Kyomukama Kaliisa, the Deputy National Coordinator for PDM, promptly visited the district to assess the program’s implementation and discovered gaps in the implementation process, and ordered a fresh training session for Parish chiefs and beneficiaries.
This training, which begins on Monday, will be personally overseen by Kyomukama to identify the causes of the slow implementation. Kyomukama stated she will be present during the fresh training to ensure that all participants fully understand the program and its objectives.
