Amos Gumisiriza, the chairman of Kakoma cell in Kakoma ward, Mbarara City North Division, faces accusations of misusing the village stamp to authorize the sale of public land.
Residents allege that Gumisiriza collaborated with village council members to sell two parcels of land owned by the council, situated in Kakoma cell and Kabagarame trading center.
However, during a village meeting chaired by the Division mayor at Kakoma Trading Center, Gumisiriza Kyabwisho, the village chairperson, refuted any involvement in the land sale. He attributed the accusations to his opponents’ attempts to undermine his leadership.
Mbarara City North Division mayor Kyabwisho, on his part, stated that the police would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. He assured the community that those responsible for the land sale would be held accountable.
