State Minister of Finance, Henry Musasizi, has encouraged unemployed youths in Kanungu District to explore opportunities in sectors such as transport, hospitality, and tourism.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the Priestly Silver Jubilee Celebration for Rev. Fr. Kiiza Lucas Justus at Nyamwegabira Parish grounds on Sunday, Minister Musasizi, who is also the Rubanda East Legislator, highlighted the government’s focus on these sectors for job creation and wealth generation.
He also announced plans to tarmac the Hamurwa-Kereere-Kanungu road and the Butogota-Ruhiija-Kerere-Rubanda road. According to Minister Musasizi, funding for these projects will come either from oil revenues or through loans.
During the event, Kanungu District Woman Member of Parliament, Patience Kinshaba Nkunda, publicly advocated for Minister Musasizi’s promotion to either Governor of the Bank of Uganda or Cabinet Minister of Finance. She urged the people of Kanungu District to support Musasizi’s elevation, praising his exceptional wisdom and knowledge.
Kinshaba also appealed to the residents of Rubanda to continue supporting and praying for Minister Musasizi until he achieves one of these positions. “Chairman Kasyaba, when you reach Rubanda, please remind them to keep supporting Minister Musasizi until he reaches one of these roles,” she said.
At the event, a total of Shs. 247,112,700 was raised in cash and pledges, along with 125 bags of cement, to support the establishment and equipping of an operating theater at Nyamwegabira Health Centre III in Nyamwegabira Catholic Parish, Kanungu District.
