The State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Kabyanga, has urged cadres to uphold and protect Ugandan values as they conclude their training.
Speaking today as the guest of honor at a cadre course held at Kinkizi High School in Kanungu District, the minister emphasized the importance of portraying Uganda positively.
Kabyanga highlighted patriotism as a cornerstone for fostering love for the country and uniting Ugandans in the fight against corruption. He encouraged the cadres to actively promote the ongoing voter registration exercise, which commenced on January 20, 2025. The minister called on unregistered individuals to register promptly and urged registered voters to verify their details on the voter register. He also reminded those wishing to transfer their voting locations to do so during the current registration period.
Addressing the Parish Development Model (PDM), Kabyanga underscored the critical role of local leaders, from LC1 to higher levels, in closely monitoring and supervising government programs such as PDM and Emyooga SACCOs. He cautioned against relying on ministers from Kampala for oversight, urging leaders to ensure that funds are effectively utilized to benefit their communities.
Kanungu Deputy RDC, Gad Rugaju, commended the minister’s commitment and stressed the need to extend the training to other citizens. Participants expressed their gratitude for the patriotic values imparted during the course and pledged to share the knowledge with other residents in the Kigezi sub-region.
Minister Kabyanga also reiterated the importance of verifying voter registration details to ensure full participation in the electoral process. He noted that ICT and National Guidance training is inclusive, welcoming all citizens regardless of political affiliation, with the aim of fostering unity and a shared sense of patriotism.
